Leaving Damon in my office, the hurt in his eyes, gutted me, even though it should have empowered me. It left me with an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Lately, I have been thinking maybe my family is right. I need to hear his story about why he did what he did. We had the most mind-blowing sex in my office. It is not like me at all to have sex while at work, let alone with someone who I should hate and not have feelings for, though there was something so hot about it. We could have been caught. It made the sex even more intense. I want to rush back in there and have him take me again. There is one problem. I am still dating Gentry. I should have known after our kiss that night that I need to end it with Gentry. His messages and calls are getting more and more degrading and hurtful. Has he always been like this? Ever since I told him about Damon working at my family’s business, he has turned from this sweet loving and caring man to an asshole. I needed to end it with him. I should have ended it when I knew that I would not be moving back to Houston.

Kissing in the parking lot, behind Damon’s truck at Dock’s, felt right. Felt like I was home where I belonged. Where we belonged. Then, tonight in my office with Damon taking control of my body, telling me I was his, it was as if my body and mind were not in sync at all. I did not care in the slightest as it was Damon. No matter how I look at it, I cheated on Gentry even if he has been a fucking dick toward me. One would think I would feel guilty, but that feeling never came. As soon as it was done, coming off the high of Damon King, I ran out of there so fast without asking him why he broke my heart into a million pieces. I need to know why. I need to ask him.

All the insecurities were resurfacing.

I did not want to deal with them.

As I drive around Bay Night, trying to avoid going home, my phone rings on my bluetooth. I take a deep sigh of relief when I see it is Penny and not Gentry. I do not think I can stomach talking to him at this point in time. What he said to me on Friday night was uncalled for. He has never spoken like that to me, ever. I have not responded since either. I need to end it with him, but I know he is not going to take it well. I am not innocent in this either. I did have sex with Damon.

I click the button on my steering wheel. “Hey!” I say with a smile on my face.

“Hey, Girl!” Penny says in a sing-song tone.

I smile. “What’s up?” I ask her.

“I wanted to call you to see how you are doing being back home and being around Damon,” Penny asks in a soft tone.
